Do you know what I do every Tuesday night?
Every Tuesday night for the last couple of years I have been leading a ministry within the High School group at Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara. It is called Worship Workshop. Really, its just a time that we set aside where the student led worship teams of our youth group prepare their hearts and minds spiritually and technically for worship of Jesus Christ. Well, that is more the vision. The prayer. Most of the time it’s just a rehearsal for Wednesday night Youth Group and Sunday Church. The spiritual aspect sometimes loses it power in the routine, and looming reality that, hey we need to get focused on the technical aspect. Honestly, it can be anything but worshipful. Sometimes kids get hurt. They feel stressed. Certain kids are not inclusive. Sometimes i am not inclusive. It’s complicated. But the true true vision is the striving, and agonizing in prayer using voices, different instruments, and what not to harmoniously praise God. And that happens.
Well…
It’s Tuesday night. 15 or so kids are on their way. I need to wrap this up. I want to agonize with them in prayer tonight. i want to worship God. I want to help them worship God. But I really need to remind myself that God is in controle.
